Hi,
  I installed Amarok 2 on Windows XP using the KDE installer (Amarok 1.90 using KDE 4.1.1 MSVC version)

I am having problems playing back mp3 files. Amarok just skips the song when I click play. ogg files are playing back fine.
I tried installing ffmpeg but it didn't help. The mp3 files are playing fine in Winamp.

How can I see the error log etc. since starting this in a console doesn't work like in linux.

Ask in #kde-windows on irc.freenode.net. The people there also package Amarok for Windows, and are usually well informed.

PS: 1.90 is pretty old, 1.92 (beta 2) is current.

Don't really know how this worked, but this did the trick. Maybe the problem was that I had multiple codecs installed for the same thing.

Start->Run
regsvr32.exe /U MP3Source.ax

Got it from the 'unregister.bat' from the DS-MP3 Source installation.

Anyway, here is a good guide on how to get audio to work on windows
