I want to use Amarok on both my Linux Mint desktop and Windows 7 laptop.

I successfully installed version 2.5 and was able to find my Music Network folder and play some music.

Next day I was unable to make Amarok start at all. I clicked on the icon and the circular symbol showed for a short period but no Amarok and it did not show up on Task Manager as a running program.

I reinstalled as Administrator but still it would not start.

Before I move on to the next alternative music player I would like to find out if any experts have any suggestions on how to start the program.

Regards

Ian

Can you please verify that no KDE processes (such as klauncher, kdeinit4, kded4 or others) are running before trying to start Amarok?

Kde was running as were
kioslave.exe *32 (Two instances)
klauncher.exe *

I stopped all processes starting with a k but program still does not start.

Hi,
for killing everything the better way is to open a console window (cmd.exe)
go to the bin installation directory of amarok and call "kdeinit4.exe --terminate" this will send kill signals to all running processes from the amarok bin directory.

(Logout / login is also always effective :) )

If that did not work download debug view:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb896647 start it and look at the output while starting amarok. This could give some decent information why it's not starting.

As you have detected I am not an expert!

I closed down the computer and restarted. I installed debug view and attempted to start Amarok and this is the output. Amarok did not start

I really don't understand why but without me doing anything new Amarok is now running and visible.

I can only apologise for wasting your time.
