Hello,

Using Arch Linux with Okular 0.15.5 under KDE 4.9.5 the printing settings seem to have no effect.
When I click on the settings tab in the print dialog and choose for example duplex and grayscale printing, it seems as if these settings are ignored.
I have to open the printer settings and choose the corresponding settings which is kind of annoying.
Is this the intended behaviour or is maybe something wrong with the printer/cups settings? I don't really know where to start researching for this thing. Google Search resulted in nothing relevant, but maybe I just have wrong keywords...
Can anybody help me with that problem?

Given that setting it via a different manner works, I would highly suspect that this is an issue with the Brother CUPS printer drivers.

Can you verify that both other KDE applications, as well as non-KDE applications which also offer a duplexing / colour mode option do not have their settings respected?

I hope it's okay to reply to such an old topic, but I have the exact same problem as andreasg:

When I change the printer duplex and/or color settings via the system settings or the cups web interface Okular and Kate respect these changes. They both however completely ignore the settings from the settings tab in the print dialog. When I change those settings in LibreOffice in the "properties" window of the print dialog instead, the changes are respected. So LibreOffice respects changes from the print dialog but KDE-applications seem to ignore them. Is this an issue with the Brother CUPS driver? If so how could I approach it?

I'm using Arch witch 4.10.13-1-ARCH kernel, KDE-Plasma-Version 5.9.5, Okular 1.1.1 and LibreOffice version 5.2.7.2.

Hi,

I have the same problem : it's impossible to change "color mode" since v16.12 (. I returned to the previous 16.08, and it's works.
In facts, the "advanced" tabs in the properties of the printer has been removed for the new "job options" tabs, but settings has disappeared. See the screenshots.

With my printer (MG5550 canon), only settings in the "advanced" tab works.

So, it could be great to have access to advanced settings again ?!

The printing option dialog is provided directly by Qt.

The removal of the "Advanced" tab in the print dialog is a known issue in Qt. Apparently the Qt developers were unhappy with how the dialog worked in Qt4 and removed it in Qt5. There were plans to replace it with something better, but lack of time and money have stalled this. The lack of a full range of print settings in Okular is annoying. I am printing to a Canon Pro 9000 MkII. When I print with Okular the text colour is wrong - eg; a blue is printed a green and black appears to be grey. If I use Evince everything prints correctly - even though I am using KDE and not Gnome. If I use other programs such as Linux Draw - the colours print correctly.
