Hi everyone ! I'm new to kde forum !

I have a long time unsolved issue with japanese pdf that can't be displayed correctly.
I tried every tools available, including okular, evince, xpdf, zathura, mupdf... but only foxitreader could read it.
However, not only the latter is not opensource, but I discovered lately the program include a spyware now!
(an acrobat-like) So, removed... Too bad because I found this program very good.
Okular include some very good features as well, but it lacks the one I need in this case.

(Hint for programmers, foxit give the possibility to select fonts for several languages.
Perhaps it could be an idea of improvement for okular.)

If open with any pdf reader, the pdf is rendered with mistakes, black squares, misfits fonts...

In this case, for the japanese language, foxit was set to:
Code: Select all
[Japanese]
Family=AR PL UMing CN
FontPath=/usr/share/fonts/TTF/uming.ttc
FaceIndex=0
Encoding=1970170211

pdfinfo on the japanese pdf gives:
Code: Select all
pdffonts 2012126300312522.pdf
name                                                      type                     encoding             emb sub  uni  object ID
GothicBBB-Medium-90ms-RKSJ-H         CID TrueType      90ms-RKSJ-H      no    no   no  15       0
Ryumin-Light-90ms-RKSJ-H             CID TrueType      90ms-RKSJ-H      no    no   no  11       0

These fonts are long use in Japan, very old, and very popular.

Notice I do have poppler and poppler-data installed, as well as all japanese font necessary. Any idea ?
