Setting default File->Open... location

I can find no way within Okular to tell it where to start looking for PDF files from the File->Open... menu. It always comes up displaying Documents/Calibre_Library, the only subdirectory in my ~/Documents directory. It's as though the name ~/Documents is compiled into Okular with no way to change it. The only solution I've found is to move that directory to another name and make a symlink from my preferred location named "~/Documents". Is that the only way? Is there a secret place somewhere that controls Okular's idea of where to start searching for new things to open? I've searched in ~/{.cache,.config,.local,.kde/share/config} to no avail. I don't know if any other applications (perhaps Calibre?) want to mess with a ~/Documents directory, which would make my workaround problematic, but I'd think there would be a way to configure that default within Okular? What am I missing?

TIA,

+1 for that!
My okular always opens in /home/user... But 90% of the time I open PDF's at /mnt/store/PDFs.
I know I can create a "Places" shortcut in dolphin and then click on that but if okular would have a
"default file open location path", or maybe a "use last opened location" option I would save ONE
very energy consuming mouseclick that could decide how to defuse an A-Bomb and save the world... ;D
