missing components after building Okular from source code

I use linux Mint KDE 18.2 which has Okular 0.25.0. The version is super old, and I'm trying to install a more recent version. After building the source code of okular-17.04.2, I tried running Okular. But the program complains about missing components like shell.rc.

cannot find .rc file "shell.rc" for component "okular"


How could I fix this? I have not set environmental variables yet. Could it be related to the variables?
