Hello. I am running Kubuntu 16.04. In the last couple days Ocular has done something strange. The menu headings (File, Edit, View, Go, ...) are not responding to mouse clicks.
When I run Okular from the terminal, I am not seeing any errors. Documents are displayed as normal, I just can't use the menus or tools that have always worked for me.
I haven't made any changes recently that I can think of that would have coincided with this, so I'm not sure what to look for.
Can anyone please suggest where I should look to find some clue about what's happening.
The Ocular version information is -
Qt: 4.8.7
KDE Development Platform: 4.14.22
Okular: 0.25.0

Please let me know if there is any other helpful information I can include.

Thanks

I am experiencing the same problem with okular on kubuntu 16.04 since an update last week.
Also, the same problem with kmymoney, plus no response to right-clicks.

I think I have seen similar issues on IRC and the answer is the same: check what which packages were updated by KUbuntu. Both applications mentioned are based on Qt4 in that version of KUbuntu; please contact them and check what happened. Maybe a Qt4 update broke it, or some other library. There is no much that can be done here with such old versions: the responsibility for handling the bugs for long term distributions is up to the distribution.

I have the same problem.
The answer with 'old' is not very encouraging, I am following (k)ubuntu 16.04 with daily updates.
I will file a bug with kubuntu, though.

It's not a matter of being encouraging or not: as KDE we can support only up to a certain point. The role of distributions is to provide long-term support for older software.

it's up to the distribution to fix the problem if the program was working up to a certain point and an update of the distribution broke that when the software and its libraries have been untouched for years, which is the case for that version of Okular, kdelibs 4.x and Qt 4.

Using XRender in System Settings -> Compositor solves this issue for me
