My system is " Linux Manjaro 4.19.12-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 21 15:05:43 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux" I have been studying for an exam and I noticed that when I open a PDF file Okular uses to much ram. I have 32gb ram in my system but Okular uses more than 11gb. When I use Gnome pdf reader it uses 88 kb for the same file. Is the is a bug ? or normal?

Hi zindilk,
To increase performance, Okular caches rendered pages in memory. Large documents can use a significant amount of RAM (but will never saturate available memory). Basically, Okular is using a lot of RAM because you have a lot of (spare) RAM. This behavior can be tuned in the settings: go to Configure > Configure Okular > Performance and check the options under "Memory usage". You can set it to "Low" to minimize memory usage at the cost of slower scrolling. Louis |
