Hi, I am using Arch Linux with systemd and the tilling WM Xmonad.

I want to change the default web browser from within Okular (when selecting text) to a different browser like tor. (currently Okular uses chromium)

The "configure web shortcuts" option from within Okular is not available for me, because I don't use a KDE Plasma environment. So what is it that I have to do, where do I have to look?

Any help greatly appreciated

the following question of mine was already asked and partially answered here:
viewtopic.php?f=251&t=108575&p=253364&hilit=+Browser+Okular#p253440

quote from the question:
when I select valid text in Okular, I am presented with a context menu including " Search for "[SELECTED TEXT]" with . . . " which in turn presents four web search engines which conveniently opens a new tab in my current browser - and a 5th "configure web shortcuts" option.

and answer to the question:
Here's the solution to get this part of Okular working in Ubuntu (assume 12.04, later, and earlier...:
1. Open software centre
2. Search KDE-plasma
3. Select and install "KDE Plasma Desktop and minimal set of applications" with "kde-plasma-desktop" beneath it. [SEE NOTE]
4. Enjoy this feature in Okular with no visible change to Ubuntu or leaving GNOME... but become curious about KDE and investigage further (Optional)

However, I don't intend to install a "KDE Plasma Desktop and minimal set of applications", but rather I want to solve this problem sleek and meek if you will.
So how am I doing this. Do I have to change the source code and compile Okular once more? If so, could someone please link me to the right line in the source code?
Can I change to a different browser by using
xdg-settings, MIME Types or other freedesktop.org related entries?
And if so, what kind of MIME Types/freedesktop.org entries
thank's

It could be enough to install extra/systemsettings and set Applications - Default Applications to your favorite browser.

You can also try to create/edit ~/.config/kdeglobals and make an entry like BrowserApplication[$e]=org.kde.falkon.desktop under header [General]
