hi there
i am using newest okular build stable (not nightly) for windows 64 bit windows10. i noticed that opening pdf files in tabs do not work, when i click the pdf files. it only works when i move them into an open okular window, so it will open it in a tab, is this a bug or is there a way to actually make okular open pdf files in tabs? EDIT: I am not using the version from microsoft store, but the version from here here. Thus, Okular was not really recognized as a Standard App for Windows 10. So I needed to add it manually as an App to open PDF files, by using the exe in the path ~Okular/bin/okular.exe |

I have a similar question about the Windows Store version. On my PC that appears to have installed and updated correctly.
I can open tabs with new documents if I do it from within Okular. I can't open in tabs if I select them from the Windows file manager. It opens individual windows. Is this by design or is this a bug? Okular v 1.10.1 Windows 10 Pro version 2004 OS build 19041.450 |

I use Kubuntu and Okular on most of my computers.
So was happy to see I could use Okular on Win10. I've installed it from Win10 app store. But I also can't figure out how to have the second and third, etc. pdf's I open up, to open as tabs in Okular. this is the behavior I am used to on Kubuntu. But on win10, double clicking a pdf file, always launches a new Okular window. I would think it should be in the Settings > Configure Okular > General Tab, Program Features category, The checkbox I selected for "Open new files in Tabs". So I already have that selected. So I think the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, should all open in tabs in a single Okular Window. What am I missing, in my understanding? |

Confirming issue
Okular Version 1.11.3 Arch Linux Option selected to open new files in a new tab: ![]() Opening a new file via file-menu does not open the file (pdf) in a new tab, instead it removes the previous displayed document with the new one. No new tab opens. On the contrary dropping files (pdf) directly onto the okular gui opens each dropped document in a new tab. (no it doesnt) |

personally, i do not have this bug. i actually can open a new Pdf via FILE in okular, and it successfully adds a new tab. and im using windows okular version 1.11.3. but then again, i am not using the microsoft store version, but the builds on jenkins. what i want is, to be able to open multiple pdfs from my dektop or other folders, and i want them to be added as tabs in okular, and not opened in new windows. so the problem here is: you can ony add tabs, when you open the pdfs via FILE in okular, OR if you drag and drop a pdf into an open okular window, so it will add it as a tab, too. but thats way too laborious to do it that way. so by now, anyone has a solution how to set up okular, so i can finally get tabs, when opening a PDF from a folder or a location, without needing to to it via okular FILE tab?
--> dragging and dropping pdf into an open okular window, it actually does open new tabs for me. not sure why it doesnt do for you. im using 1.11.3 currently. then agian, im using it on Microsoft Windows, not Linux.
---> i think its not by design. i tested it on a linux machine, and i could open multiple pdfs on the desktop and they were successfully added as new tabs. i didnt need to use FILE via okular in linux, to add new pdfs as new tabs. so i guess its a bug in windows. probably opening a bug ticket would be wise, idk. |

I am using okular both on windows 10 and Debian . First when i use okular provided by debian 10 repository i works perfect and open new files in tabs instead of windows. Then i install latest version of okular using flatpak and after that every pdf from dolphin file manager open in new windows .
Second in windows 10 i tried windows store version , chocolatey version and build version but same problem means new pdf open in new windows instaed of new tab. I think okular all integration works good only in KDE plasma and isolated packege in windows 10 or flatpak package do not have some dependency to system so system can not recogenised already open okular instance so every time it throw new instance for file. Only developer can help in this situation |
