Fuzzy fonts on external screen (Windows)

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I discovered that fonts and symbols are not rendered correctly on external screens for my windows work laptop. (The problem occurred for at least two different screens.) Affected areas include main and annotation toolbars (particular the symbols), the thumbnails, and the document. The menu bar and the table of contents seem to be fine. The fonts are readable but fuzzy. See the picture below for an example of a symbol and a word from the document (top external screen, bottom laptop screen).

I am using Okular 20.12.2 (Microsoft Store), KDE 5.79.0, Qt 5.15.2, PDF Backend 0.6.5, Poppler 21.02.0 on a recent Windows 10 (build 18363). I tried Kate, a KDE text editor for windows. It rendered fonts and symbols correctly, although it uses the same KDE and Qt versions.

Is this issue known? (I couldn't find any mention.) Does a workaround exist?

Cheers,
hatlight

Does it happen with PDF documents only, or also with other types of text-based documents supported by Okular?
Anyway, it may most likely be an issue of Poppler, the library used by Okular to render PDFs.

Same thing here.

Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2, Build 19042.804. Okular 20.12.2 installed from Microsoft Store.

I confirm, same problem for me - fonts look perfect in main screen and blurry on the second screen for pdf files - on the same configuration (Windows 10 Pro 19042.928 and Okular 20.12.2 from MS Store).

Same for me too. Never noticed using Ubuntu but would quite like to correct the problem!

Hi,

Do you have text and graphics antialias on in the settings?

You can also try the latest version. For some reason the windows store version is still at 20.12 and not progressing when the latest release version is now at 21.08.2 at the time of this post. You can get the latest version here: https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Okul ... ase_win64/

The only thing is the desktop exe version does not show up in the app list for default apps so you have to right click on a PDF > open with > choose another app > look for another app on this PC > and then navigate to okular (probably C:\Program Files\Okular\bin\okular.exe ) to set as the default PDF app.
