Hello Dear Community i just registered hoping you could help me clarify my understanding regarding the development process of desktop applications.
What are the obstacles when implementing features in open source programs? I'm asking because I'm considering hiring programmers to implement features in Linux programs that are already too long on the to-do lists. In Okular for example an advanced search result feature which can list the search results etc. is long on the community wishlist. For my own use i need this feature too. I have 10+ year experience in Website development but mostly in small teams or by myself. From this perspective i have no idea how the development process with a program like Okular and large community looks like. So when i hire someone who delivers a working version of this feature, is there even a chance that it will be implemented or will this version then just stay as a fork that needs to be maintained by itself? Love Linux and would love to see some progress here. Kind regards |

I'm not an expert myself, but they would submit a merge request on [*]https://invent.kde.org/ , and if the community aggres with it it will be implemented.
