Hi all,
I'm running kde 4.2.2 on archlinux, and sometimes (depending on the webpage) when I click on a link with a pdf file, the pdf is shown through okular which is embedded on konqueror. How can I set konqueror to let me choose what to do with the file rather than automatically open it in this way? I have no problem with okular, but it bothers me the fact that it doesn't open the pdf "outside" konqueror, wich provoque that many options such as "save file" that are not available if I open the file in this way. thanks in advance santiagorf

This can be changed through the file associations for the PDF filetype. Open System Settings > Advanced > File Associations. Find the appropriate file types ( PDF for instance ) then click on the "Embedding" tab. Make sure that "Show file in seperate viewer" is selected.

Have you tried to restart your KDE session? Some settings don't become effective untill a new session is started.

I think in KDE 3 there was /home/your_user/.kde/share/config/profilerc which would store all that info related with file associations; that file doesn't exist in KDE 4, at least I don't have it, so I guess the responsible must be some other file en your .kde/share/config folder.
I cant be more helpful, sorry. Hopefully some more wise user could throw some light on this, . Good luck. |

Try and look for other file associations also, such as application/x-pdf.

I have already set x-bzpdf and x-gzpdf, but I don't have x-pdf.

Oops, my mistake. It should have been application/pdf.
