Hello,

trying printing a PDF-File with Okular do not work. Even printing with Acrobat Reader does not work. Printing with xpdf works fine.

Generally printing works fine, such as printing with kate.

In addition:
Printing with Opera does not work
Printing with konqueror works fine.

/var/log/cups/error_log: http://pastebin.kubuntu-de.org/125

I am using kde 4.4

Thanks for an answer

- Package Splix removed (have Samsung clp510 printer)
- Package cups with all dependencies removed
- reboot
- Package Splix installed
- cups installed
Testing to print with Okular fails...
- installing gutenprint, hplip, and every pdf-related Package i found. Per Package i tested printing. It fails...

I don't know what i could do else....

This looks like a more CUPS / Distribution based issue. I would recommend checking to ensure that Apparmor / SELinuxa aren't interfering, otherwise check with your distributions forums.

ok, thanks.

Reset the apparmor for cups with
Code: Select all
sudo aa-complain cupsd
. Printing fails.

Will try to get a resolution from Launchad.

Found the answer...

Seems to be a currupted file named "lpoptions" in folder "~/cups". If i renamed this File okular prints fine :-)

Does anybody know, wich program writes or need this file?

Edit: How could i mark this thread as solved?

No idea what that file was for, likely just for options though.

Everytime your change your Printersettings with kde-related Programs, such as kate or okular, this file will be updatet. This occurs only when you really starts a printjob. Changing Printersettings with OpenOffice as example do not have any affect to this file.

The file ~/.cups/lpoptions is part of cups: http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/man-lpoptions.html

Today it seems to be all ok. Changing printersettings updates the file in the the right way, and do not currupt it. :?

The only thing i did, was setting up once the printer over systemsettings. Now it works even with prgramrelated printerstettingsdialogue and the file is updated correctly.

As example, here a corrupted file:
Code: Select all
Default CLP-510 Duplex=DuplexNoTumble MediaType=USED PageRegion=    PageSize=A4
and another one:
Code: Select all
Default CLP-510 !=true
=true PageRegion PageSize=A4

OK, thanks for trying helping me.

Regards
kaputtnik
