Hello,
trying printing a PDF-File with Okular do not work. Even printing with Acrobat Reader does not work. Printing with xpdf works fine. Generally printing works fine, such as printing with kate. In addition: Printing with Opera does not work Printing with konqueror works fine. /var/log/cups/error_log: http://pastebin.kubuntu-de.org/125 I am using kde 4.4 Thanks for an answer kaputtnik |

- Package Splix removed (have Samsung clp510 printer)
- Package cups with all dependencies removed - reboot - Package Splix installed - cups installed Testing to print with Okular fails... - installing gutenprint, hplip, and every pdf-related Package i found. Per Package i tested printing. It fails... I don't know what i could do else.... |

This looks like a more CUPS / Distribution based issue. I would recommend checking to ensure that Apparmor / SELinuxa aren't interfering, otherwise check with your distributions forums.

Found the answer...
Seems to be a currupted file named "lpoptions" in folder "~/cups". If i renamed this File okular prints fine Does anybody know, wich program writes or need this file? kaputtnik Edit: How could i mark this thread as solved? |

No idea what that file was for, likely just for options though.

Everytime your change your Printersettings with kde-related Programs, such as kate or okular, this file will be updatet. This occurs only when you really starts a printjob. Changing Printersettings with OpenOffice as example do not have any affect to this file.
The file ~/.cups/lpoptions is part of cups: http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/man-lpoptions.html Today it seems to be all ok. Changing printersettings updates the file in the the right way, and do not currupt it. The only thing i did, was setting up once the printer over systemsettings. Now it works even with prgramrelated printerstettingsdialogue and the file is updated correctly. As example, here a corrupted file:
