Okular doesn't open these kind of files. Which app can I use to open them? Also, is there any app that could open a pdf encrypted file? I don't mean to bypass the security, only to view the file in GNU/Linux the same way I can view it in Adobe Reader 9, in Windows.
I ask it not considering the possibility to use acroread.

I don't know, but once when I tested archlinux for a bit, I managed to open one of those files. I don't remember what was the software (I should have payed more attention...)

did you have Acroread installed in Arch?

I don't think it was Acroread. I looked around and the app looked liked evince, but I can't be sure now.

Yeah, I saw that post too. It got me wondering if my problem isn't the file security setting now...
If it is, it makes me angry. I was taking a course that was supposed to prepare me to participate in a few public contests (in Brazil we have public contests - I don't know the best translation - to select those who will become public employees). This course provided a few extra materials to enhance the students habilities. But now I find that, at least at first, I can only view them in windows.

Evince uses the poppler PDF backend like Okular so their capabilities should be the same, you could try loading Evince in aptosid if it's in one of the repos or download a livecd that is Gnome based and try Evince there

You might try a different Windows based reader under Wine http://www.nuance.com/for-business/by-p ... /index.htm if you have an aversion to Adobe products

Which do you think would be lighter/faster?

Note: running Windows apps under Wine is not a sure thing, for a sure thing I'd go Acroread but it is a big download

ps - Foxit reader doesn't do portfolios as of yet but on their todo list
