Okular doesn't open these kind of files. Which app can I use to open them? Also, is there any app that could open a pdf encrypted file? I don't mean to bypass the security, only to view the file in GNU/Linux the same way I can view it in Adobe Reader 9, in Windows.
I ask it not considering the possibility to use acroread. Thx guys. |

I found no bug requests for this feature nor any reference to it on the Okular formats supported page http://okular.kde.org/formats.php page - since Okular uses Poppler as it's backend for pdfs you may wish to post a wish on thir bugzilla https://bugs.freedesktop.org/request.cgi. This is a list of current bugs/wishes https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cg ... r&content= I don't see any mention of portfolios
For those unfamiliar with PDF portfolios - "A PDF Portfolio contains multiple files assembled into an integrated PDF unit. The files in a PDF Portfolio can be in different formats and created in different applications" from http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0 ... D91CE.html |

I don't know, but once when I tested archlinux for a bit, I managed to open one of those files. I don't remember what was the software (I should have payed more attention...)

did you have Acroread installed in Arch?
the last post in this thread claims Okular recognizes the portfolio but must save each member individually to be able to open them http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... -833748%2F |

I don't think it was Acroread. I looked around and the app looked liked evince, but I can't be sure now.
Yeah, I saw that post too. It got me wondering if my problem isn't the file security setting now... If it is, it makes me angry. I was taking a course that was supposed to prepare me to participate in a few public contests (in Brazil we have public contests - I don't know the best translation - to select those who will become public employees). This course provided a few extra materials to enhance the students habilities. But now I find that, at least at first, I can only view them in windows. |

Evince uses the poppler PDF backend like Okular so their capabilities should be the same, you could try loading Evince in aptosid if it's in one of the repos or download a livecd that is Gnome based and try Evince there
What not Acroread 9 for Linux? ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/un ... 9.4.0/enu/ ? You might try a different Windows based reader under Wine http://www.nuance.com/for-business/by-p ... /index.htm if you have an aversion to Adobe products |

Note: running Windows apps under Wine is not a sure thing, for a sure thing I'd go Acroread but it is a big download
the 3 apps listed below are Windows apps: really no experience with Nuance but here's a review http://download.cnet.com/Nuance-PDF-Rea ... 28752.html it's probably smaller and lighter but may not handle portfolios well If you want light and small then SlimPDF http://www.investintech.com/resources/f ... pdfreader/ but no idea if it does Portfolios ps - Foxit reader doesn't do portfolios as of yet but on their todo list
