Hello, good to everyone (and I apologize for my English, is not very good) :-\ :

Today I got a message that I had updates available in KDE Neon, everything is fine until I install the updates. Now every time I login, before the login screen appears, the screen goes black with a virtual keyboard in the "android" style in the lower half of the screen, this does not prevent me from starting the session, if I enter my password on that keyboard and pulse enter, start the session, I can also give a keyboard-shaped button inside that keyboard (worth the redundancy) and I can put my password on the usual login screen, however it is vastly annoying that this keyboard Virtual appears every time I log in.

Can someone tell me why this keyboard is now in KDE and how could I disable it?

A greeting.

I use synaptic and when I delete the virtual keyboard another five packages are deleted, included neon-desktop.

With sudo apt purge sends me this message: the qtvirtualkey-board package could not be found. in synaptic the package is called qtvirtualkey-board, qt5-virtualkeyboard does not appear. For now I will leave the virtual keyboard, even if it is a bit annoying.

Anyway thank you very much Mapes.

I have the same problem and thought I'd accidentally mis-configured something till I found this thread.

Following through on some of the information and links from: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... post408155, I found a fix which works for me:

I didn't have an /etc/sddm.conf file, so I created one and added:

[General]
InputMethod=

Saved, rebooted, problem solved. (No idea if the section heading is needed.)

(KDE Plasma 5.8.8, KDE Frameworks 5.41.0, Qt Version 5.7.1, Kernel 4.10.0-42-generic.)

I modified that file as you say, but it has not been solved.

I don't have /etc/sddm.conf file as well, how can I create one?

Same here with you method : create /etc/sddm.conf filled with your content : no more virtual keyboard on sddm login screen.

Thank you.

The easiest way, since you have to not only create it but add in the lines above too, is to open a terminal window and type
Code: Select all
sudo nano /etc/sddm.conf
or whatever your preferred editor is. Then add the lines above, hit ctrl-x, type "y" to save, hit return, and you're done.
