This is my entry to the Konqui Krita Contest. The design concept here is "Community, Co-operation and Cute". Alongside with Konqui the KDE dragon, I've also designed a revised version of Katie, his girl friend. A whole variation of KDE dragons are also added to represent various participants in the KDE community. Their antlers simply show their roles in KDE development. Examples of antler are explained on the footer, covering roles which were mentioned in the KDE "about" dialogue. 100% Krita made, no other creativity programs involved. Texts were hand-written in Krita. Licensed under GNU LGPL version 2 and later. Hope you like my design! ^ ^ My DA page: http://tysontan.deviantart.com

Really nice. The antler idea is cool.
@valerievk: If you look at the big version and zoom in, you can clearly see that it's painted. Could even be cleaner. |

I gotta say this is my personal favorite for the moment - cute, brilliant thing with the antlers and fun.

Thank you for all the comments! I'm glad to know you liked my design! Recently I've read terms of LGPL and came to understand that LGPL and CC-BY-SA are not compatible, plus KDE and the mascot are trademarks. Therefore I've edited the license to GNU LGPL V2 and later only. Please use Ctrl+F5 to reload the images for renewed versions.
P.S. If any FOSS project you know would like to have a mascot, I'd be glad to help with the design! |

Here is my critic:
- Character is very cute and you have managed to capture different kind emotions with it. - Size of body and head is great as it makes it "non threat" (the current Konqi isn't either such) because colors and eyes - The face does need little working in its huge roundess, about the nose and nose ridge what causes it look more of octobus from front and side because shape of droplet. I can not exactly put it as words but someway the nostril should be "sharper" and nose ridge to have little more shape on it. - Awesome idea to use K letter like shape in ears/horns as it allowed you to capture different kind shapes as well to it. - Your idea to get a group of "konqis" (dragons) just makes very good feeling about the community and specialization of every person. By your style and emotions I wish you could make a few different kind cartoons (just few strips) about different KDE applications, by assigning specific kind character for specific kind application. Example one for graphics applications like Krita, second for music applications like Amarok, one for office applications like words, one for studying and teaching for Kedu applications, one for world traveler for Marble and one for photographers for digiKam etc. I would like to see this big family to adventure together to do fun stuff together like kids in school to work together in different projects creating together bigger works and solving normal daily problems. |
