Hi,
after updating to kde 4.14 Digikam won't start. I've tried to delete digikam4.db and thumbnails-digikam.db but Digikam still fails. What's wrong? This it the console output:
I'm using Archlinux

messages point towards the gstreamer phonon backend so I would suggest switching the phonon backend to VLC, then restarting KDE
you could also: - reinstall all your gstreamer packages, there may be an issue there - test as a new user ps - sometimes helps to know what distro you are running |

Hi google01103,
I'm using Archlinux. I've reinstalled some gstreamer package but the result is the same: a crash. but....after installing phonon-vlc everything is ok. Is vlc backend better than gstreamer backend or should I try to get gstreamer work again? Thanks |

there are differences of which I can not specify other than VLC will not have an equalizer available in Amarok until v2.2, my experience is that VLC has been less problematic but obviously ymmv

does gstreamer work in other phonon based apps like Amarok?
are you using the current or legacy version of gstreamer? I would suggest you re-install the gstreamer packages per the Arch wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GStreamer there might be a packaging issue with either Digikam or gstreamer so maybe re-install both if re-installation doesn't help try as a new user, you could have a corrupt rc file |
