Hello!
Everytime I start the configuration dialog within digikam it takes about 3 to 5 seconds - then digikam freezes. I read somewhere, well it's probably outdated, that kipi export plugins could be a problem. So I try to disable them. Because I have to be quick (within 3 seconds before stallling) I simple disselect all kipi plugins and quickly close the configuration dialogs and digikam to get a clean shutdown. When opening digikam again all the plugins are active once again.... Also when I check I find the process "/usr/bin/digikam -caption digiKam --icon digikam using 99% of one CPU This is on Arch fully upgraded with digikam 4.2.03 and kipi-plugins 4.2.0.3 How can I fix this? p.s.: I use my localhost's mariadb as mysl database |

if you switch (just to test) to sqlite as the db do you have the issue?
can you up to 4.3.0? if you run from command line are there errors? try using kdebugdialog with only kipi and digikam options enabled then start digikam and then check ~/.xsession-errors you can try disabling the export plugins in ~/.kde[4]/share/digikamrc in the [KIPI/EnabledPlugin] section |

Switching to sqlite helps. I could disable all the export plugins which I honestly will never use, I guess the best pratice seems to be to just enable the two or three exporters one needs... maybe optin for the plugins should be the default settings because they seem to slow down digikam considerably - at least for me.
Version 4.3? I do not see any package or git release for Arch atm... I'd rather wait this one out... I remember two years ago there's been an issue with using external mysql in that you needed root access to the database. Now I granted all privileges to the digikam database user role but maybe there is still some permissions missing... If I find the time I'll set up another mysql on another machine to see if full mysql-root access to the database does the trick. Though this should never be the solution... I really like the possibilty to use an external mysql server for all KDE related databases. It makes data backups so much easier compared to those squlite dbs flying around all over the place... thx, piedro |

Just checked the fixed bugs in 4.3.0 - I guess you are right:
slow startup due to scanning, resetting plugin checkmarks to default at every start, some serious mysql fixes... all on the menu. I guess arch package will be coming soon, thx, piedro |
