How digkKam stores Exif tags?

Mon May 01, 2017 5:20 am
Hi,

I have some photos which I tagged them in Chinese. However, when I try to review those tags, there are all decoded in some unrecognizable characters. I can reproduce this both on digiKam on Linux and Windows.

But if I check the image property in Windows explorer, the tag information are displayed correctly in Chinese. So I think the tags are stored correctly, but in a Chinese encoding format which digiKam does not recognize and can not decode correctly.

I tried to use PIL, the python library, to read the Exif information, but I have no idea which field is used for storing tags. I think if I can read out those tags, I can encode the tags in UTF-8 and write them back to the images.

Thanks.
