I had to move all my picture from a drive named fotos to a other named fotos_1.
Everything is working well, so the preview thumbnails are missing. Thanks for helping. |

Assuming you are using the default SQlite database, then thumbnails are stored in "thumbnails-digikam.db" which is located with the main digiKam database, as specified by: Settings -> Configure digiKam -> Database.
If the thumbnail database is missing it *should* be automatically rebuilt when digiKam is launched. Check that your user has RW permissions on the database directory, and there is sufficient free space. If thumbnails still aren't shown then perhaps try: Tools -> Maintenance -> Rebuild Thumbnails |

Thanks for answering.
But my problem is different. I moved all picture from drive/Folder Fotos to new drive Fotos_1 (because i have not enough space anymore and installed a new SSD) When I get started digiKam, he ask my for the new Location of the albums and migrate something. Now, everything is working fine so the Folder preview Thumbnails are missing. for each folder i set the folder preview picture. Did you now where this information is stored? |

OK, sorry, my misunderstanding
You were meaning the thumbnails that can be assigned to the tree-view album list. They are not "stored" as such, just a reference to the image I believe. I don't know why you're not seeing them. Perhaps assign them again: To select a photograph as the Album icon, right-click on the photograph that you want to use as the Album icon and select Set as Album Thumbnail from the context menu. I know the behaviour has changed at some point, as originally digikam assigned the first photograph in the album as the preview icon in the Albums list, now it is necessary to explicitly set one. Maybe worth asking on the digiKam mailing list: https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users I've found that very helpful in the past. |

Solved
Thanks to Gilles for helping. The data is stored on digikam.db. This can be open with sqlitebrowser. There in Data in Tab Album the last column called icon, there is the number from the image. In Tab FilePath are stored some Infos until 2010 only, i had deleted all them without any impact. Ok, problem now was: I start digikam with old digikam.db, but moved on new SSD. Digikam ask my if the collection is still available at /Fotos/. But there is no way to select something else. When I select no or later(?) and then I put manually the path to a new Album, i lost all Folder icons. Therefor open digikam.db again and change on Tab AlbumRoot the specified path to the new SDD called /Fotos_1/. Now restart digiKam and he ask my if the collection is still available at /Fotos_1/ Next problem is, that a lot of picture comment are missing because of exif2 software bugs. But this is a other story. Export from digikam.db the Tab ImagesComments is tricky. The is anywhere a limitation. My album Collection has over 600 Folders and more than 100'000 pictures. Gilles ask my why i do not use the same SSD Name/Folder. SSD is done for a long life time, i hope so. That mean the SSD has not to be replaced every 5 Years. Then when i do not have any space again just install a next SSD in my example called /Fotos_2/. Thanks to everybody |
