I am using digiKam 4.12.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and experience problems importing photos including face tags. First of all, I want to mention that I ticked the "Face Tags" checkbox In digiKam's settings -> Metadata such that face tags are written to the metadata.

The main problem is that I want to import a photo that contains face tag metadata visible, e.g., by exiftool and the face tags do not show up in digiKam. In fact, I generated the face tags inside of digiKam and exported the photo from digiKam to my Desktop. Then, I re-imported the very same picture back into digiKam and I see that the general tags are imported correctly. However, the face tags are not recognized neither by name nor by region. If I check the metadata by exiftool, the tag's rectangle and tag names are visible.

Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?
