Looks like major update in 7.2 beta to the face tagging workflow... looking forward to it!
I've been using 6.4 for awhile for face tagging and decided to give 7 rc a try to see if some of the improvements help with problems I'm having. It appears there are some changes to the "face tagging workflow" so I am not 100% sure how it is supposed to work... so some questions. First let me say the green border highlighting the unconfirmed faces in a People tag grouping is a welcomed addition. However, it is still difficult to find those unconfirmed faces if you have a People tag with 1000s of images. So here is question #1: Is filtering by "Unconfirmed" supposed to work? - I tried selecting a people tag with 1000s of photos which indicated there were "(55 new)" in the people list (also a welcomed change) - then on the right hand side I selected "Filters" and then under "Face Tags Filter" I selected "Unconfirmed" - but no photos are selected. Is this supposed to work? Other face tags work (to get the intersection of 2 or more people) but I presume that "Unconfirmed" is a 'special' virtual tag and is not working to filter. This would be very helpful to find those unconfirmed faces among 1000s of images under a single people tag. Question #2: Are unconfirmed face 'minus button' and 'red X' button supposed to do the same thing? When looking at an unconfirmed face within a People tag selection, - if you click on a face tag you see four overlay icons: top left is same old +/- indicating the image is selected or not, - bottom left is check mark button to confirm the face, - bottom right is a minus button, - and top left is a red X. - The tool tip for both the minus button and red X say the same thing "If this is not a face, click to reject it.". - And it appears that they both do the same thing now: remove the face tag and it is never to be seen again (I've seen forum posts talking about an "Ignored" face tag but I've never seen it in 6.4 or 7-rc). - Are both buttons supposed to do the same thing (which is, vanish that face match forever)? What would seem most useful to me is: - red X relegates the face match to an "Ignored" People tag for later recovery if mistaken, - minus button removes the face from the current People tag and moves it to the next best matched People tag. Not sure that's possible. I have a million other questions, but I'll stop here. I confess I was a huge fan of Picasa, and I am a growing into a huge fan of digiKam and I want to see the face workflow be the best it can be. It is the primary way I interact with my 100,000+ photos. Thanks for all the hard work. |
