Can digikam display the embedded jpg in afphoto files?

I'm new to digikam and finding it very useful apart from one problem. Initially, when I viewed folders containing Affinity Photo files (extension afphoto), these files were not shown at all. I found a tip somewhere which said that if I go to Settings / Configure digikam and then to Views / Mime types, if I enter "afphoto" into "Additional image file extensions", then once the program re-scans the database, afphoto files will be shown. This does work, but I'm only seeing grey icons with the file details, it is not showing the embedded jpg which other similar programs show.

Please can you tell me if digikam can be made to show these?

Thanks.

I have the same problem!
Affinity Photo is by far the best alternative to the Adobe subscription-only products.
Just like DigiKam is the best alternative to Lightroom!

Unfortunately, these two Adobe alternatives don't seem to get along well together.
I can't imagine that me and 'stuartcord' are the only ones using this combination.
Is there a solution?
How to enable thumbnails for afphoto files in DigiKam?

Thanks!
