Every time I start up digiKam, it loads the UI then shows it is scanning for new items, which takes a long, long time. Eventually, it will hang on 100%.
Why is that? Even if I simply close and reopen digiKam, make zero changes in between, this happens.

edit: I know I can disable scanning for new items, but it is on by default. Not sure if it would lead to errors otherwise. Also, scanning for NEW items should be really fast, it seems to deep scan for MODIFIED items as well. Isn't there a way to let it only scan for new items?

I have the same problem with 7.7.0 on Windows 10.
