So far I've always used MS Photo Gallery for face tagging (both automatic and manual). I want to switch to digiKam to make use of the developments in AI recognition algorithms, as MSPG has been EoL for a while.

I have a 20K plus archive of photos, with face tags. They are all recognized in dK, so far so good. However, when I add new photos and want to have them automatically recognized, I'm not really impressed (yet) with the level of recognition. With so many pictures in the database already, I'd expect better results, which leads me to the question: does dK use tagged faces in pictures tagged with other tools than dK in the algorithms or is this limited to those pictures tagged by dK?
