I'm using digiKam 7.7.0 on Windows 10 and sometimes when I try to manually delete the duplicates, digiKam freezes while opening the delete confirmation window and then crashes. I'm curious to know what's causing this issue. Is there any log of events for digiKam on Windows to get a clue from?

Try to use that and raise a BUG on KDE Bugzilla for Digikam product.
But before going further I would suggest to upgrade to the most recent version to see if the issue still persist for you
