from Kphotoalbum to digiKam?

Sun Mar 20, 2011 12:03 pm
Linux Mint 10 KDE -- I have updated a new install to KDE 4.6.1 and found that I cannot install Kphotoalbum due to a dependency issue.

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=68620

I have spent some time googling but I am not sure whether or not Kphotoalbum will be a viable programme for the future.

Is there any means of exporting a Kphotoalbum database in a format that can be imported by digiKam, Picasa or other cataloguing app that will work on Linux? I am hoping that there is, as Kphotoalbum has been used by me for over three years to catalogue a collection of c. 15,000 images.

Thanks in anticipation.

you can try to ask the dev(s) http://www.kphotoalbum.org/index.php?pa ... -media#irc, http://mail.kdab.com/mailman/listinfo/kphotoalbum

fyi - it installed fine on openSuse 11.4 kde 4..6.1 so it might just be a Mint issue (just installed it, didn't use it)

Thanks for your help and advice. Perhaps it is a Mint/Kubuntu problem of some kind. I may need to look at another distro here ... when I have time.
