How to get 1:1 display in Digikam

Mon Apr 18, 2011 7:20 pm
When I look at my photographs with Digikam, what it calls 100% is about 1/3 of the actual picture size. If I zoom more to get the same display size as I would get with Gwenview in 1:1, it is pixellated. It looks like Digikam is using a scaled down image and thinks it is the complete one (still a bit big to be the embedded Jpeg, though). Is there a way to get Digikam to display the true image?

Answering my own question after discovering "embedded preview loads full-sized images" in Digikam settings (Album view) and a similar one in the Light Table settings. Now wondering what is the purpose of the reduced size preview.

The purpose is to speed up the preview on RAW files. As RAW files store JPEG preview file in it, instead reading RAW data and then decoding it digiKam just reads the JPEG file and then presents it. And that JPEG embedded in RAW file is in camera settings and what camera itself use as well to show the preview in camera screen.
