Find & Replace function?

Mon Oct 20, 2014 12:19 pm
Hi

Kontact's / KOrganiser's "Find" tool works very well, but i'd like to know how / if i can do global / bulk "Replace" functions in KOrganiser. Eg, either in the Kontact / KOrganiser GUI itself, or otherwise somehow in the underlying database structure, can i "Find" all instances of [eg] "black" & then "Replace" with "purple"? Making bulk replacements one by one manually is tedious to the point of impracticality.

Thanks.

Steffie.

Hmmm

No community support here, no response from majority of developers when separately emailed, passive-aggressive unhelpful response from one developer when separately emailed, lots of niggling functionality problems with Kontact broadly & KOrganizer specifically. It's a pity, coz it's a nice product in many ways, but after living with it for a couple of months & getting more & more disappointed by its technical shortcomings & zero support. i took an alternative path.

Discovered & installed PlayOnLinux, then using it i installed my Outlook 2010. It does not run perfectly, but it does run well, & so now i have all the desired PIM functionality back, still within Linux. I'm pleased with the outcome, but a little sad that after migrating from MS Win7 to Linux Mint earlier this year & mostly loving it, i've had to retain this one vestige of MS. I sincerely hope that one day Kontact will get there. I wish the developers & community all the best wishes.

Steffie.
