Where can I get help?

Fri Nov 07, 2014 12:50 pm
I like what I see of kOrganizer, but I am missing something or it has some bugs. I posted my problem on the community board and got no response, and I noticed that a similar post is two weeks old and has no response. Is there documentation I can buy or a reasonably inexpensive "expert" I can hire to get me through what I think is a simple problem? I see great answers to integrating complex calendars and sharing schedules with the world, but nobody seems to want to deal with the simple, and probably stupid, problems that beginners seem to encounter. I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

part of this might be that 4.8.5 is pretty old, I'm on 4.14.2, and thus it's hard to comment on or be able to replicate something one doesn't have - could you upgrade

fwiw I looked on bugs.kde.org and didn't see anything relevant

also, can you post the link to the similar issue's post

ps - I just responded to you original post but note I'm not a big Korganizer user

I know this may sound totally ignorant, but I get nowhere with you suggestions. I tried to upgrade KOrganizer to a newer version and received a package of files. Every executable file required that I get another element. When I downloaded what it needed, it still could not load the later build. One suggestion I came across is to upgrade Ubuntu. I have 12.04 LTS, but it will not upgrade to anything above 12.04. I looked at a video that someone put together on how to upgrade, and it started with deleting my existing drivers. I did not do that.
Perhaps I am the wrong person to have Ubuntu and its associated programs. They are all pretty good, but when I encounter a glitch the modification becomes a project. I am using this to get my business done. If it were a hobby, then this would be a fun diversion, but you do not seem to have simple answers, and I do not have time. I do not mind paying for help if it does not get wildly expensive, but I cannot spend a lot more time on trying to fix things. I bought a basic Ubuntu primer and got somewhere copying and modifying "cook book" commands, but I know I do not know what I am doing.
If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your help. If the answer goes along with the joke "Box up your computer. You are too stupid to use it"--I understand where you are coming from.

couple of things:

1) did you see Wolfie323's response to you original post viewtopic.php?f=261&t=123546&p=323372#p323709 ?

2) if you have problems upgrading Kubunu you need to ask there but there a lots of tutorials to assist for this on the web because of it's popularity and they look pretty easy

http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/04/upgr ... 4-04-12-04
http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2014/05/02/ho ... 14-04-lts/
http://www.namhuy.net/2853/upgrade-ubun ... 4-lts.html

3) do you have any other issues like configuration settings/changes not being saved?
