Hello
A couple of weeks ago, I had a freak mishap. I was checking something in ~/.kde/share/apps when my dog disturbed me and I deleted most of the configuration files. I managed to restore most configurations by starting the program and then make a new configuration. However, there are a few ones, who are not working. The most important one is the Calendar, KOrganizer. Klicking on the icon on the controlbar: no result, starting with the quickstarter: no result starting with the console:
Is anybody able to help me?

Hi thanks. No I do not use Kontact, as the large part is on Thinderbird with over 500 Email addresses.
The result of the konsole start:

so it starts and yet no window appears? make sure it is actuall running, in Ksysguard it shows as a running process?
the QDBussConnection message is a known meaningless bug could you try running korganizer as a different user to test if its a config or system issue your calendar should be in ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer, you might wish to make a copy make sure it is not running and rename ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc and the try again |

That is correct. See the result of Ksysguard screenshot. How do i plant a pic in here?
Done, and KOrganizer running
Yes, it is
Sorry, I do not understand this one. There is already such a file at the location (1.4 KiB). Do you want the above transferred and the present deleted? I have also made a screenshot from Kontact. There one can see, that if I click on Korganizer nothing happens. I don't think the following could be the culprit: As I said my whole system was configured for use in German. After this incidence with the Configuration files a lot or text now appears in English and not any longer in German. In German KOrganizer is called Kalender

yes, I want it renamed so that there is a copy of it, and so that when Korganizer is restarted and it doesn't find it it creates a new version |

So, all done as instructed. Started Korganiser without the file and a new one was created. And there is still no windows with the Calendar.

no idea, if it shows for another user then it's gotta be a config issue
- could it be running in a different desktop? - does the calendar show in Kontact? |

No, I tried on all four.
The word Kalender appears, but nothing moves when I clock on it.

The code has not made any changes.
I am not the best with the console. I can get to the virtual console and change to different directories. But how would I clear the caches, with which command?

using the rm command, login as you do not run as root and be very wary of rm command with the "-rf" option
you could also use midnight commander (the command is mc) if installed, its a console based file manager |

Hi, it is a long while ago, and I have not thanked you for your help. In any case, it works now. There was a problem with my understanding of Akonadi.
So, thanks very much for your kind help.
