Now for starters, let me begin with my system information:
Operating System: Kubuntu 21.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.11.0-25-generic OS Type: 64-bit Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × Intel® Core™ i7-10870H CPU @ 2.20GHz Memory: 15.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics When I open KOrganizer, I would get "The Akonadi personal information management service isn't running. The application cannot run without it." So I tried to install Akonadi to see if that would work then I would try to start it by entering [code]sudo akonadictl start[/code] But then I would get,"QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root'" This is the more completed outcome that I got from the terminal [code]xxx@xxx-Gazelle:~$ sudo akonadictl start [sudo] password for xxx: QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root' QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root' org.kde.pim.akonadictl: Starting Akonadi Server... Hi!
You should at first learning the basics. Akonadi should run as your user, not as root, so do not use sudo for this. At first, check out the permissions in your homefolder, as these are easily messed up using sudo in a wrong way.
After this: Kubuntu has akonadi preinstalled, so what exactly did you try to install? What is the output of

Solved. After looking around. What I just needed to do was delete the Akonadi folders in the .local folder. Restart KOrganizer, now its like nothing ever was wrong.

Could you please tell me specifically which directories you deleted? I'm also trying to reset KOrganizer, but I can't seem to do it successfully. |
