Collaborative management of Kdenlive profiles/rendering options on the website?
Thu Dec 25, 2008 1:02 pm
Dear Friends, Rendering options and Kdenlive profiles may be quite complicated when it comes to exporting to professional formats or specific devices or in very high quality. I was wondering it we could manage the profiles online, using Drupal? Then a PHP script would generate the export profile for Kdenlive. You would only need to download it OR kdenlive future versions may be able to fetch the export profiles on the web. Examples:
Also, I would like to explore quality settings, because default export options have too many artefacts.
Some formats are only variants of other formats. Examples: D10 (aka Sony IMX) ffmpeg -i <input_file> -vcodec mpeg2video -r 25 -pix_fmt yuv422p -minrate 50000k -maxrate 50000k -b 50000k -intra -flags +ildct+low_delay -dc 10 -flags2 +ivlc+non_linear_q -ps 1 -qmin 1 -qmax 3 -top 1 -bufsize 2000000 -rc_init_occupancy 2000000 -rc_buf_aggressivity 0.25 -an output.m2v DVCAM / DVCPRO25 / DVCPRO50 Encoding
Collaborative management would provide higher feedback and better quality. The database would look like our camcorder database and would stay simple. What do you think? Jean-Michel |

Okay, let' use the forum at first. I found a very interesting page: Are you interested to add some rendering formats/quality settings to Kdenlive? Tell me what you would like and I can add it to Kdenlive. |

I changed a bunch of rendering options:
This will be available in the next Kdenlive 0.7.1 release available on Monday 29 Dec 2008. If you read the FFmpeg rendering options and can submit interesting settings, I may be able to integrate them. Just create a custom export profile and play with options. |

I think this is a neat idea, but I think it should ("somehow") be made available through the "get new stuff" functionality in KDE4.

Is this implemented in Kdenlive? |

Per discussion with JB on Sun 15 Feb 2008, we decided to develop profiles and exports in Drupal. The idea is to make a database comparable to camcorders and implement some kind of validation before kdenlive can access profiles remotely. We will start impletation in a week or so. |

Why not create a KdenLive resource repository when you're at it? In addition to profiles/render settings add plugins (when they're starting to pop up), transitions, effects etc. |
