Kdenlive wizard: remove button?

Tue Dec 30, 2008 10:10 pm

Dear Mads,

Would it be possible for Kdenlive wizard to include an "unistall/clean" button to remove everything from /usr/local: kdenlive, MLT and FFmpeg. This would allow to install packages more easily without conflict.

Bye, Jean-Michel

I can wrap the installs in calls to installwatch (part of checkinstall). Then I can create scripts that removes the files installed by the wizard.

Please note, that contreary to what you write on http://kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/builder-wizard the wizard by default installs into $HOME/kdenlive - the user needs to explictly change this directory in order to install elsewhere.

But you are right in that *if* the user chooses to install into a system directory (/usr, /usr/local) installed libs *may* conflict with existing ffmpeg/mlt/mlt++/kdenlive installs.

Thanks. The doc is collaborative management. Go ahead and fix it. You don't even have to write a message, just explain in the changelog.
