I think we should use an icon for every entry except we couldn't find a good one! This means the icons MUST BE REALLY SELF-EXPLANATORY like "add clip" e.g.

Later I would like to suggest a feature (for all who don't realized the comfort and speed using shortcut's ;) 8-) ) similar to avid where you can drop your icons (menu entries) at nearly any place of the UI for quick access so user don't have to search through lots of menus ... ;)

Then please make a complete tree view of all the functions in the first post and we'll stick the icon to every function and we'll have a good overview about the work already done. There should also be some templates for commons grafics (like filmstrip) and the topic should be pinned. I would offer myself to help, but I am currently trying to translate Kdenlive to Slovene.

ok, I started a new topic for that, so this one is left to collect more ideas. The new topic will show the latest effort and templates. OK ?

i really like that creat stuff icons, but i'd leave the playback symbols as they are in the original

ok, so here are some ideas in b/w. Basically I just replaced the marker buttons and made some slightly modifications on the goto buttons since the goto IN/OUT buttons looks just a bit too similar compared with the goto begin/end buttons IMHO.

btw - I also would like to suggest using brackets generally instead of the triangles to mark the region between IN/OUT points, since the triangles are hidden when at the head/tail of the project. :?:

now I like to suggest a new button for the "toggle on/off effects" icon in the lower left corner of kdenlive.

The three other buttons are really good self-explanatory IMHO

Its a bit hard to see what it does now.

it's probably a big move, but moving on to the oxygen icons is appropriate for the KDE4 releases.
