I think it would be a great idea to create a bunch of public domain demo images, music, and intro/exit video clips. These could be an add-on that could be downloaded separately.

What does everyone think?

Maybe relate this to issue 296 and also make this content the standard for future tutorials/screenshots in official documentation. Kinda like the Blender mascot which is used throughout their tutorials. That would 'splat multiple flies in one hit' as we say in Holland.

Its quite a job. There already exist photo and sound collections on the internet - a starting point to locate them could be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Commons - of course this is not strictly public domain, but getting thing into public domain will be even harder than getting it into CC.

I have thousands of photos and hundreds of hours of footage on my hard drives (that I took), and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Heh, maybe we ask the people who entered the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase and didn't get in if they'd mind their entries being used in Kdenlive Free Culture Showcase instead.

I would still suggest that you submitted them to some sort of cc (which supports a public domain license, I think) collection, instead of using efforts in creating a competing effort?

Wouldn't that be more rational?
