Finally got fed up with Sony Vegas and its problems and decided to see what Ubuntu had to offer. I must say, this FREE program seems to work WAY better (faster, less crashes, better renders) than Sony. I have read many of the ideas here and they all seem wonderful to have in Kdenlive. However, I would like to see if I could get something into the new version as well (unless it is already in it and I just can't find it)...
In Sony, if 2 clips are on the same timeline, you can drag one onto the other to make a cross fade (one fades out while the other fades in ["X" like fade]). This is a nice a simple little thing that I usually used to make 1s "smooth" transitions between clips. From what I understand, right now, you have to have one clip on one timeline, and the other on a different timeline, which is harder to work with when you want 20 clips all fading in and out (10 on top, 10 on bottom?). |

2 tracks should be enough for the scenario described with 20 clips as you can also crossfade from track 2 to 1.
There are already requests for a one-track-transition. |
