Hi,
I'm new to this forum but it makes a long time I use Kdenlive and follow its changes - and do experience it with pleasure. As I'm a Linux user and open-source fanatic, I made all my video edit on K, most currently long videos - up to 1 hour. In my opinion, some feature are missing for long films editing, making it hazardous and painful. These are ideas that came to me while working: > The Sequence feature. Split a project in sequences that can be loaded on demand in different tabs to be edited separately. They could maybe have their proper time-lines and clip-pool but share the unique project tree. It could be possible to play the sequences one after the others with "play the entire project" button. All sequences are parts of the same project but slice it to optimize the CPU, loading times, and clear the workflow. The export button could allow these options: "export active sequence" "export sequence number X" "export entire project". A new panel summarizes sequences and allow us to load or unload the one you wanna work on. It shows length, number of time-lines, the order which they are played - and makes possible to reorganize it and define transitions between sequences -, clips used in the sequence-pool, the possibility to open a pool without loading the entire sequence.. > The Clip pool feature. Make a clip pool per sequence where you can put slices of - or entire - clip present in the project-tree. Like a sub-tree using only main project tree resources but providing a library per sequence. The main goal is to clear and slice the workflow in smaller unit of work, easy to handle and modify with allot of shots. Of course, if you use only one sequence, the program looks and can be used like it does actually. I would be pleased to hear your opinion and discuss the way it's possible to implement these features. Apologizes my English, but I originally speak French. See you. Jules. |
