BTW, for the lazy here's the link to KDEnlive-devel mailing list page (you'll find the list archive over there): https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/lis ... live-devel

Neil, try replacing what you have commented out with the following:

mlt_event_block( g_event_listener );

I were experiencing crashes too, but today KDEnlive simply refuses to start up, just states in a dialog it cannot locate MLT and asks for a path to it.

This is happening to me too. I do not install MLT into a system path. I use environment variables to refer to everything (e.g., LD_LIBRARY_PATH)

I found out the MLT installation path it wants is the MLT installation prefix. It appends "share/mlt/profiles" to it to parse through MLT's profiles. It stores the value in ~/.kde/share/config/kdenliverc so you are only asked once.

I committed to MLT SVN the change I suggested with mlt_event_block as well as the string allocation bugfix.

Yes, Kdenlive now needs to find the MLT "profiles" directory on your system.

It should be able to guess in most cases, but if it doesn't, you will need to provide the path where your MLT install is.

For example if you installed MLT in "/opt", you should have a folder named:

/opt/share/mlt/profiles

You will then need to provide "/opt/" as your MLT install path.

If you installed through the Kdenlive builder script located on this forum, you will need to provide something like:

$HOME/build/kdenlive/ (replace $HOME with your current user home path)

Of course, as I already stated, you now need current svn of MLT to start Kdenlive.

Is there (or could there be) a ./configure option to kdenlive to set the path for mlt,

so that the builder script can set the correct default at build time?

kdenlive r1649 and MLT r1019 seem to work perfectly. Thank you so much.
