Buggy title / transition / SDL (with downloadable project)

:arrow: bug.kdenlive = XML project (open in a text editor and adapt paths).

:arrow: mvi_1782.avi = short film, shot with a camera (not a camcorder, I was afraid of water)



Okay, here are the problems:

:arrow: Image rendering. Look at the title "Carantec". The first transition displays the title. The second transition fades this title away. Problem: When fading away, the title is not exactly the same size. But there is only one Gimp file: titre.xcf. First transition is against track 1 and second transition against track 2. Anyhow ... display should be the same ... Bug?

:arrow: Try to joggle around the project, mouving the cursor using the mouse, very fast. At a certain point, between transition 1 and transition 2, Kdenlive segfaults, at least when using SDL display. Here is a complete trace.



These two bugs are very typical, look at these other examples: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=162

If you can fix these bugs, Kdenlive will be much more reliable.

Hi.



There was a bug in Kdenlive that caused the insertion of an extra transition in between 2 adjacent transitions. I fixed it, maybe that will make things a bit better. I could not crash Kdenlive with your project file, although I tried moving my hand as fast as possible :). Wondering which QT / KDE version you are using...



However, the problem with the title clip changing size when you apply a transition on another image is still here, I think it has something to do with aspect ratio not being correctly set...



EDIT: I am currently working on this changing size issue, seems like it can be fixed in Kdenlive, should hit svn soon.



You can still workaroud the problem by making all your transitions applied to the track 2 (that means to the video clip).

So I am compiling Kdenlive / MLT on a old laptop to test.

I am interested to see at what speed can Kdenlive / MLT run on an old laptop.

Should be pretty quick.

Works now with latest svn, but you will have to resize your image clips. DV Pal has an aspect ratio of 4/3, so the frames are resized to 768x576.

If you want to add an image clip & be able to make transitions act like on a video clip, your image should have that size.

I could reproduce another crash, but more frankly.



I shortened the first transition a little bit

and moved the cursor slowly on first two transitions.

I downloaded the project and tried to reproduce it with kdenlive that is a few days old, but I could not reproduce it.

I upgraded to latest Kdenlive SVN r1670.

Kdenlive crashes immediately on opening the slightly modified project.

can you integrate such conversation (square <-> non square) into kdenlive in some way - maybe as an new effect?

Would be a really helpful feature IMHO



btw - a resize effect, that also offer non proportional scaling, seems to be also very important IMHO ;)
