Hi there,
I'm using Samsung SC-MX20, PC-BSD 7.1, kdenlive 7.5. When I add the MP4 files to kdenlive, it does not include the audio. Other file formats do not have this problem (video and audio are both there). Playing one of the mp4 files in mplayer (from the command line) works (has sound) and also produces the following text output: [xxxx@pcbsd /usr/home/xxxx/Videos/Raw]$ mplayer SDV_0017.MP4 MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.2.1 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team CPU: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+ (Family: 15, Model: 28, Stepping: 0) CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. I have a similar problem when rendering .mp4 files to DVD.
The workaround in my case is to explicitly "split audio" before rendering. Best regards, Stefaan. |

Do you have other files that work that have AAC audio? Does the Kdenlive Clip Properties dialog show audio parameters similar to what you see in the mplayer output?

This reviewer here:
http://www.osnews.com/story/21785 He indicates that he has the same issue when he states: Another problem I had with KDEnLive was that one of my MP4 h.264/AAC files (created with the MainConcept encoder) had its audio not recognized, while a MOV h.264/AAC file (encoded with Apple's FCP) was recognized (my ffmpeg does have AAC support btw) Looks like whatever ffmpeg kdenlive is using lacks the proper codec. How do I add codecs to kdenlive? Thanks. |

You can not add codecs to Kdenlive; you can only add them to FFmpeg. If you play the MP4 with ffplay (at the command line) do you hear the audio?

This is an old post but my issue seems to be similar,
On Ubuntu 12.04 studio, with kdenlive 9.2 from sunabs ppa. Footage coming in .mp4 straight from a sony xd pmw ex (something). Folder stucture from the cards is still intact. Files play but without audio everywhere in the system. ffmplay, melt, mplayer, etc. audio should be PCM 4 ch/16 bit/48 kHz ffmplayer tells me Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: pcm_s16be, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 1536 kb/s mplayer tells me something different AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16be, 0.0 kbit/0.00% (ratio: 0->192000) Selected audio codec: [pcm] afm: pcm (Uncompressed PCM) VLC tells me [0x7f80c0000b78] main input error: no suitable demux module for `file/subtitle:///media/Files/Destroyedword/K/BPAV/CLPR/065_0071_01//065_0071_01.SMI' they all give me errors like this mpeg2video @ 0x7f22ac0036c0] warning: first frame is no keyframe Kden sees the codec s16be but has two nice straight lines for audio... It could well be that the video was simply recored without sound, I do not have access to the camera or cards to check this. It seems there are a lot of problems similar to this with audio from xdcam .mp4 and if this is an issue it is not with kdenlive. But I wonder if anyone has succesfully worked with xd .mp4 footage before or if anyone has encountered this problem? |
