the sound is fine for a few seconds then the crackling sound starts to come up, i have an X-FI soundcard / Karmic
is this a buffer problem? also Set audio to ALSA i uninstalled Pulseaudio server |

If the crackling is rather subtle, not a loud gross noise, then this is a known issue that seems to be worse on some cards more than others. There is not a known workaround right now, but it should not be in the rendered output played in a media player.

I'm faced with sporadic crackling during editing, too.
(x86 Debian unstable / ALSA) After some editing, you can hear the crackling. But once you stop playbackand jump to a different location on the timeline, playback is fine. I'm utilizing integrated Intel HDA / Realtek HD / Nvidia chip set. Toby |

maybe adding an audio option relating to frequency output of the soundcard?
if i could set the frequency output of audio to 22khz during editing and set it to maybe 16bit etc the crackling might be solved |
