Hi,

since installing Kdenlive neither Movie Player or Rhythmbox will load; also Pidgin has stopped too.
These probs first occured last week, though I didn't make the connection at the time, so I've since done a complete re-install of Ubuntu Karmic which sorted the probs, however today I re-installed Kdenlive and the above probs re-appeared. I have used all three apps today before installing, so I know they were working immediately prior to installation.
I've tried completely uninstalling Kdenlive, but above apps still don't work, any idea what's happened and how I can undo the changes?

Paul.

My guess is your problem is related to the ffmpeg package. Perhaps the kdenlive installer put in some newer or older version of ffmpeg that is incompatible with the other apps. What kdenlive version did you install and how exactly did you install it?

Can't remember which version, but I installed it via terminal 'sudo apt-get install kdenlive'

Just tried re-installing to check version, v0.7.5

*Update*

After reading installation notes on this site, I upgraded to v0.7.6, still no change, so I again un-installed it Via Synaptic, then used Computer Janitor to clean up system and everything works again!!
Question now is do I risk re-installing v0.7.6 and see if everything still works?

This is due to some package management issues, and you ought to report that on launchpad.net.
