I've heard nothing but good about Kdenlive but when I've gotten it, it's been nothing but trash. First of all... I'd like to point out that the process of downloading the **** is a pain. A person has to add a repository just to add one program? Really? What happened to a button that says "Download" and if someone wants the entire repository they can go ahead and do that if they would like... it's just a thought.
Anyways I have a .ogv video that I'm trying to edit. I also want to place and edit video with it. The video is only 15 minutes long and every time I try editing the **** the whole thing freezes. I can't even tell the program to make a bug report. I'm sure that when a program crashes when you try to do the basic functions of what the program is designed to do... then there's something wrong... there's gotta be some MASSIVE bug. I just wanted anyone who might actually care to know. I'm amazed this thing gets good reviews. The website is terrible. The downloading process is terrible... it's a no-brainer that the program is going to crash every two seconds. How can ANYONE think this program has any class or standards. I'm deleting this piece of trash. I literally spent two days figuring out how to get this program. Every spare moment was in front of the computer just trying to find out how I could get this program. What a HUGE let down. I wish I could have given you guys a bug report, but your program has so many problems, I can't even do that. |

I have an .ogv video file and I have an MP3 audio file that I was trying to edit with it. |

could you imagine you do something wrong for your install ? or hardware? or anything else ? could you imagine thousand people using a soft with sucess and the soft simply doesn't work ? |

hundreds of other programs seem to work perfectly. There's no hardware issue. I've conducted multiple installs. It's not too hard to conceive of how to do it. Just mark and apply or sudo apt-get.

ok, it's funny how you "critiq" the software that you are not able to install ...

Usually when there is significant failure like this, the person has run into the dreaded PulseAudio compatibility bug - mostly within Ubuntu - which is well-mentioned here. However, the attacks against the installation and website are pureley baseless.
Should I just delete this thread as troll ****? |

Hi,
hm, deleting the thread as troll ****? Nobody would really miss this thread, it's of no help to anyone. On the other hand, it's a sign of your strength, Dan, to just keep cool as you did and not delete it. By the way: I just love kdenlive (even more than I loved kino before)! It's so great to work with the AVCHD footage as I can do now. And really, nobody said that kdenlive was rock stable. Of course, it's not stable (yet). But it's far more than just usable! Keep up the great work! Cheers Chamo |

I also beg to differ with the thread author. Kdenlive does work - well enough for me to abandon Kino. I keep looking at Open Shot but to me it seems less intuitive - and it crashed when I tried to export DV video. Hmmm, some way to go, perhaps. So in spite of minor niggles Kdenlive is the best for me.
