My Kdenlive has been crashing whenever a video is imported. The program loads just fine, but it goes down instantly as soon as a clip is imported. I've tried with several different clip formats, and it is always the same story. My version of Ubuntu is 10.10 and Kdenlive is 0.7.8. The developer info from the Bug Report is:

Any brilliant insights from anyone for whom this means something?

I had similar problem.Whenever I try to load a video, kdenlive crashed without fail, but no problem in loading image files. The OS was Ubuntu 10.04,kdenlive ver.0.8. But that was my old story.Then I have switched to ubuntu 10.10. Though it was a fresh install,Kdenlive 0.8( from sunab repo) refused to install and complained about lot of unresolved dependencies(!).I admit that I had not done any update after fresh install,it is more than 300 . So, I installed all dependencies first,then I installed Kdenlive ver.0.8 from sunab repo , meant for Lucid (deb file preserved from my previous installation cache).Now every thing appears to be working fine.

My question is, Can I keep the installations as it is ? Could somebody please explain the ill effects likely to occur if I continue.I am yet to install other apps.
