i'm using ubuntu lucid lynx.

trying to delete a track from the timeline, but when i try to delete, or just move the clip, it won't let me. it just makes an audio blip sound, and at the bottom it says error removing track from xx.xx point in the timeline. any idea what's gonig on?

You've just stumbled across a bug. Whenever this happens, save immediately (I suggest in a new savefile) and restart Kdenlive. You'll probably notice the unmovable clip has moved or isn't there anymore, hopefully the rest of the project isn't affected. If you can find out how to reproduce the bug please file a bugreport so the devs can fix it!
