problem with monitoring capture

Thu Sep 09, 2010 2:20 pm
Hello,
Kdenlive detect my camera and I can connect it, I could control it from the recording monitor (I can rewind, etc), but I could not capture or see the image on the monitor. The status message stays on "Initializing ... ' and when I try to capture I get another message saying the file is broken.
Anyone have any suggestions for me? Using Ubuntu lucid.
Thanks for your help and sorry about my "Google Translate English".

I forgot to mention that I've installed all the suggested packages and I have the version 3.5 of dvgrab and the problem still happens. The same happen in Kino.
My camera is a Sony HVR A1p PAL, tried unsuccessfully dv and hdv format.

Did you try to do anything to set device permissions? By default, Ubuntu 10.04 and earlier does not give the user full permission:
