Hi
I really enjoy using kdenlive, but on loading up saved projects the programme keeps crashing out which is a shame. I'm on Ubuntu lucid, 1 gig ram and AMD phenom II- the programme has no issues in performance for rendering or general speed In looking around in the forums for solutions, I've turned off thumbnails and I updated mtl to ver . 6, but I still have these crashes which occur when a recently saved project is loaded up and the position is moved or some basic action is performed, below are the back traces 1st crash:: Application: Kdenlive (kdenlive), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0xb4fe4930 (LWP 4718))] Thread 3 (Thread 0xad3feb70 (LWP 4745)): [KCrash Handler] #6 0xb19b3f40 in ?? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks again Alandub |

The crash happens in FFmpeg. There is a known limitation in the scaling routine of FFmpeg that crashes when trying to rescale a video or image to something larger than 4000 or 5000 pixels.
Are you zooming an image or video in your project which might produce something larger than that? |

HI j-b-m
Thanks for your comments, well Im not looking to do zoom in or anything - just do some editing of a quicktime video- the file is quite large though 1.8 gb- I'm looking to edit down to shorter time and time size. I un-installed and then re-installed from Synaptic, everything is up to date but still crashes Application: Kdenlive (kdenlive), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0xb500c710 (LWP 9048))] Thread 3 (Thread 0xad5ffb70 (LWP 9376)): [KCrash Handler] #6 0xb19cfff0 in ?? Do you know of a way to reproduce it that does not require your existing project? Can you provide instructions for how to create a project such that loading it triggers the bug?
