Hello,

first I am new to kdenlive. First I wanted to ask about a list of the different video formats, but then I found it under Project/Configure Project. It might be good to have the detailed info in the new project dialog an in the kdenlive documentation as well.

I am still not sure what format I have to use best to work as non-destructive as possible.

The videos are recorded with a Panasonic SDR-S150 in 16:9. Kdenlive clip properties say mpeg2 video, mp2 audio, Fps: 25, Audio: 48000Hz Stereo, Size 704x576.

Any hints?

TIA,

testerus

P.S.: It looks like I need to add a new profile to /usr/share/mlt/profiles (or better /usr/local/share/mlt/profiles ?). Profiles are documented at http://www.mltframework.org/twiki/bin/view/MLT/Profiles

So the pixel ratio would be 16/9 divided by 11/9 = 16/11, thus the profile should look like this:

description=PAL 704x576 Wide
frame_rate_num=25
frame_rate_den=1
width=704
height=576
progressive=0
sample_aspect_num=16
sample_aspect_den=11
display_aspect_num=16
display_aspect_den=9

Are my assumptions correct?
